Addiction Courses by Norgay:
The Pit of Addiction: Understanding the Descent and the Climb

Addiction Recovery is a climb from the pit of addiction to the top of a mountain. They must make this journey through rain and storm, carrying an immense weight. You cannot carry their burden for them, but you can be their sherpa—guiding, supporting, and walking beside them. It’s a challenging role, but you don’t have to do it alone. I can teach you how to be their sherpa.

A Guided Path Through Addiction and Recovery

Navigating the world of addiction can feel overwhelming and confusing.

At Norgay Counseling, we've created a guided path of courses designed to provide clarity, knowledge, and practical tools for every stage of the journey...

1. The Pit of Addiction: Understand Addiction (an introduction)

This is the essential starting point for everyone. Whether you are questioning your own behaviors or trying to understand a loved one, this introductory course provides a comprehensive overview of addiction. In just a few hours, you will gain a clear understanding of what addiction is, how it affects the brain, and what the path to recovery looks like.

2. The Craving Brain: The Brutal Mechanisms of Addiction

Before you can plan the climb out, you must understand the forces that keep you in the pit. This course is the critical bridge between understanding the problem and working towards a solution. "The Craving Brain" takes a deep dive into the brutal neurobiological mechanisms of addiction. It explains in detail how the brain is hijacked, why willpower isn't enough, and what cravings are on a neurological level. A thorough understanding of these concepts is absolutely essential before moving on to recovery, as it provides the "why" behind the practical strategies of "The Climb Back."

3. The Climb Back: The Hard Path to Recovery

Building on the crucial knowledge from "The Craving Brain," this comprehensive course is for those ready to begin the practical journey of recovery. It provides a dual curriculum for both the individual struggling with addiction (the Climber) and their loved ones (the Sherpa). You will learn evidence-based strategies, coping mechanisms, and communication tools needed to navigate the hard path to regaining independence, together.

4. The Resilient Child: Age-Appropriate Addiction Prevention

Prevention is the ultimate goal. This course is designed for parents, caregivers, and educators who want to foster emotional resilience in children and teens. It provides practical, age-appropriate strategies to build a strong foundation of mental well-being, helping to prevent addiction before it ever starts.
